Move Trial Course to Work Subscription

Dec 06, 2019

I took an elearning class and had the trial installed on my home laptop.  My work has a subscription to Articulate 360 and my manager signed me up as a user when I finished my course (yay I am so excited!).  How do I get my course I created in my trial on my  home laptop to my work laptop in the work subscription?

Thank you,

Hi Sheri,

You can move the Storyline file to your other laptop as you would any other file (e.g., Word doc, Excel, etc.); email it to yourself if it's not too large, or copy it to a thumb drive and move it that way.

On your work computer, you can browse to find it when you have SL360 open, or just double-click on the course file from Windows Explorer.

Have fun!

Hi Sheri and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you'd like to do.

It sounds like you've created a project in Storyline 360 on one computer, but need it on another computer, correct?

You mention that you have it on a file on your work laptop now. I'd recommend:

  1. Double-clicking that file location and allowing it to open in Storyline
  2. Click to open the file if Storyline is open via 'Browse for more...'

or via File > Open

Thank you for responding, but I must be doing something wrong.  Neither option is working for me.  (I am so bad at technology.)  I can play the course that I created using a different laptop with the trial subscription on my work computer, but nothing shows up in Recent or pulls up in SL in the subscription that my manager added me to at work when I play it.  And when I try to Browse I don't see what to use.  I go to the folder where I have it saved but the zip folder isn't there, just a folder with three items in it and nothing comes up in the file name to open.

I attached some snips.  The first one is where my project is saved.  I have the zip and the one that I extracted.  I can click on the story html one when I open the extracted one and it will play, but it does not show up in SL.

The second snip is when I try to open it in SL.  Nothing comes up in the File Name and nothing opens and it doesn't look like all the extracted files are even in the folder.

I apologize.  I am really trying to learn this technology stuff.

Hi Sheri,

Thank you for the additional details and the screenshots.

It looks like you are viewing the published output, which cannot be opened in Storyline.

You would be looking for the .story project file that you worked on within the software.

  • Do you know where you saved your project file?

Be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive) when creating, editing, and publishing Storyline courses. Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption or an inability to save changes.
