Wow--changing the parameters of an object while in motion--quite ambitious...(is this SL2?) If so, you could try a Zoom Region to give the appearance of a scale change (see attached). With some tweaking this may be an easy solution.
Sure Walt, or use Flash...you can also change states of the object during motion based on adding states to the object, triggers that change states based on points in timeline (see attached).

Otherwise, you can do this in PowerPoint and export it as a movie.
