Hold down the CTRL key while hitting the arrow keys. This'll "nudge" in 1 pixel increments. The size / position window is non-modal, by the way. Meaning you can open it and move it out of the way and continue to work, selecting multiple objects or different objects.
It works for me up and down but not side to side on VMWare. So I went in to check out the keyboard settings and, sure enough, there's a key command to switch up spaces in mission control. Unchecking these works for me. I always use the 3 finger swipe to switch anyway
Im using Windows on a Mac with Parallels and this post is a huge time saver! I adjusted my keyboard settings to what Steve showed but control + the up arrow still shows me my desktops. All other directions work. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
Not sure why but this shortcut isnt working for me. It makes a big leap of about 10 pixels instead. I can use the ALT+Drag for pixel precision but I would rather nudge. Any ideas?!
Have you tried using a single arrow key without the CTRL button? Also, what version of Storyline are you using? You can check by going to the "Help" Tab -> "About Articulate Storyline".
ALYSSA THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS WAS THE ISSUE! It was on w hopping 8px. Wohoo thank you. this was driving me insane. It seems to move 2px with CTRL but now moves 1px just using the arrow keys. Whatever works!
I'm on SL360 and I'm needing to have 1px accuracy while overlaying one grid image over another. I just can't get the image to move in 1px increments. I've played around with the Grids and Guides. I've tried 2px and the default 8px. I've tried CTRL & ALT & just the arrow. I'm zoomed in max. I'm guessing that my image resolution is greater than the slide resolution and Storyline can't actually move the image by 1px, only the slide by 1px.
Looking in preview mode the image is not matching up.
Really strange that the X & Y values under Format > Size and Position won't let you accurately move the image by 1 pixel.
With your permission, we can take a closer look at this slide to investigate what's happening. You can import it into a new Storyline file and send the single slide to us for review. We'll delete it when we're done troubleshooting.
If that works for you, you can upload your file privately to our support team here. We'll give it a test and let you know what we find!

Thanks for the tip, Steve!
Thanks! I thought I was going to go crazy typing in the coordinates hit and miss!
Another Newport Newsian! Hi, Robin.

Steve,
As always, you're a genius and a saving grace. Beats having to go into the position panel each time. Thanks!
Glad to see that this older thread is still assisting users :) Thanks for popping in to share Lee!

Hi Elise! You must have that set up as a shortcut on your Mac then and that would override. Just as Steve mentioned an issue above.
Wow holding down the CTRL key, while using the arrow keys. This is a game-changer, thank you!!!
So glad you stumbled on this thread, Mac! And in case you're interested, take a peek at all of the other Storyline keyboard shortcuts.
That was JUST the issue for me as well, Steve, Thank you!
Glad that this was able to assist you as well Ralph :)
Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Ctrl + arrow key for pixel nudge is a Brilliant tip - as it must frustrate many trying to line up objects.
Thanks!

Hi Libby,

Hello Ashley! Thanks you. Yes I have tried it without the CTRL button but it definitely moves more than a pixel. I am using SL360
Howdy Libby!
What spacing setting are you using under Grids and Guides? Two pixels is the minimum setting there.

Any suggestions?
Just checked - using the X & Y values under format, also doesn't allow me to move the image by 1px of the image

Ok. Thanks. I've done that.
I think it's moving by 1 pixel of the slide, not 1 pixel of the image.
Did you scale the image down from the original size? At 1:1, an image pixel is equivalent to a slide pixel.
