I'm currently making a quiz where learners have to put words into different buckets depending on how difficult they are. For 508/accessibility reasons, I want them to be able to use the arrow keys to move the content from point A to point B. Any ideas on how to make this possible?
Thanks for the idea! Unfortunately, it didn't work. Attached is what I did to the trigger, but the motion path isn't triggered. Did I make the trigger incorrectly?
From what I can see, you did nothing wrong. Have you setup the motion path of the object correctly?
I suggest you redo your triggers by following the video tutorial in the article I mentioned above. Start watching the video from the 07:27 mark. The presenter does a good job of explaining how to do motion paths on objects when a user clicks a button on the screen, you can just change that to when a user presses an arrow key.
Found the problem! For some reason, if it's a slide trigger it works, but when it's a trigger for the object, it doesn't work. New problem though - when I move the object into the triggered area using the keys, it does not register as having been "dropped" there, so I get a message saying that I need to complete the question before I can proceed. Any thoughts on that?
Yes, there are three bin icons where the drag-able object can be taken. The intersect doesn't work. This is the error message that occurs when I set up the intersect.
It looks like Matthew is providing a lot of assistance to you here and I'd be happy to help as well.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening and to better understand what you're running into. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
Hi Leslie, I was wondering if you had any luck with troubleshooting this issue. I was wanting to do something like this as well, and popped in to see if anyone has done it. Would you be able to share the solution if you figured it out, so that the object reads as "dropped" so the submit button works? Thanks Teresa
I had a peek at Manhattan's case where Leslie crafted a fun, tailored approach to get intersecting objects to submit. I mocked up a fresh file to show you the bones.
Check it out below, and let me know if you had something else in mind for your specific course!

Hi Manhattan Strategy,
That is certainly doable in Storyline, you just need to set a trigger to move your object/word:
Move <object> on <Line Motion Path> when the user presses the <arrow> key

Hi Manhattan,
Glad you can move your object using the keys now.
Now, when you say "triggered area," is there another object that you placed in that area? You can setup your slide such that when two objects intersect with each other, it will trigger an event such as jumping to the next slide, or enabling the next slide button.

Thanks for sharing your file privately so that I could take a look, Manhattan.
I'm taking a look and will reply to you via e-mail.
