MP4 videos in Storyline blank
Aug 01, 2018
I have some Storyline modules where I have imported mp4 videos. For some reason in a small handful of users, the slides with the videos appear empty, just a white space. I am not sure why this is - it happens for them in Chrome and in Internet Explorer. The module is published in html5 with Flash fallback. They have Flash installed and enabled in their browser.
The hard thing is I cannot replicate it, but for the users who have the issue, they experience this on all slides in all modules that have mp4s in them.
Is there any advice on this?

Hi John! I'm happy to investigate this with you. I can appreciate how frustrating it is when learners report an issue that you haven't experienced yourself.
What version of Storyline did you use to publish this course? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline.
Also, is the published output hosted on a learning management system or a web server?
Hi Alyssa
Thank you for your reply. I am using Articulte 360 v3.18.16449.0
Thanks for those details, John. We had a similar issue that was fixed in a previous update, but nothing new reported to this effect.
I'm going to open a case for you with our support team who'll know the right questions to ask. They'll send you an email soon with some next steps.
Thank you Crystal
John, were you able to figure this out? I wonder if it's the same issue I am having where the .mp4 files are actually being published as .mp4.qt files. The behavior experienced by my end users sounds the same. If you look in the \story_content folder do some or all of your video files end with the .mp4.qt file extension?
Hi Steve. I haven't been able to resolve this, although for most users, it works if they use Chrome. I have had a look at the video files in \story_content and they are all mp4 files in the extension. So not sure how to fix this. Please let me know if you find anything...
Hi there, John. I had a quick look at your case to see what the progress was. It looks like Cleo was exploring a few potential causes for your user who was having issues with Internet Explorer (server, network and antivirus programs). Feel free to respond to his last email if you're able -- we're here if you need more help!
