Multiple Choise Question form not allowing to change states

I am trying to use a form (since I need the SCORM for the course) AND have it change the radiobuttons appearance once the answer to the multiple choice has been submitted. I do this by adding triggers to the submit button to change the selected radiobutton to custom state (correct-green if correct, red if incorrect) when pressed. This approach works when not using forms. With forms it seems to ignore these triggers or overrides them and the state remains selected.

I also tried this by adding the triggers to the correct/incorrect layers to trigger at beginning of their respective timelines.

I can do this with a crude workaround (have the correct and incorrect layers have colored shapes over the radiobuttons) but was wondering if my approach is possible with forms and how should I approach it differently?

I am using Storyline 360.
