Multiple Drop downs with same choices

Mar 11, 2019

Hi All,

Can i have multiple dropdowns with same set of choices and the right choice options can repeat?

Example:

12 Month names displayed and the number of days needs to be selected from the dropdown and the choices in all the drop downs will be 28, 30 and 31. How to achieve this please

Hi Senthil,

It's possible - although it'll take a bit of custom work!

Here's a much older example that you could look at reworking in Storyline 3 or Storyline 360.

Here's another idea from Leslie using a "selected" state within a custom drop-down list.

Curious to see what you come up with, and if you find yourself stuck sharing a copy of your .story file will be helpful for the community to chime in.

Hi Senthil,

As Ashley mentioned, this would need to be a custom set-up because matching drop down questions require a 1:1 question/answer.

Also, you can only have ten options, and if you are doing the month example you shared, you would need more.

Take a look at the attached example of built-in options:

  • Slide 1 - Displays your limitation and how the answers would have to be the 'right' 31 with the month - not just 'any' 31 - and limited options
  • Slide 2 - Displays your option with multiple response questions, but again limited choices
  • Slides 3, 4, and 5 - Displays your option if you were to split the questions up and to use a Pick Many question type
  • Slide 6 - Displays a drag and drop so that you can fit all your options on one slilde

Hopefully, that gets you started. Otherwise, I'd take a look at custom options as Ashley shared above.

Hi Leslie,

Thanks a ton for the quick and wonderful reply with samples Leslie... Yeah i hv done a little research and ended up not having only 3 options for multiple dropdown. however your example was really helpful in using other smart ways of achieving the requirement. Thanks heaps again :)
