I am trying to place a multi-page PDF in a scrolling panel. I have saved the PDF as PNGs but this gives me multiple files. I would like the learner to be able to scroll through all of the pages but can't load multiple PNGs in one scrolling panel. Any suggestions?
Hm, adding content to scrolling panel does require a bit of 'fiddling'. Add the 3 PNGs to your slide and then drag and position them into the panel. Here is a quick example with 3 pngs: http://dev.keypointlearn.com/xcl71_SL/PDF/V2/story.html
It looks like Michael is assisting you here, and as he mentioned it may be better to use a web object. When testing this, you'll need to publish and test within the intended environment to ensure the web object works as expected.
Thank you both. Yes, need to avoid using a web object given the client's environment.
In the end, we broke it down by page and each page in the .pdf had its own screen. Worked well as it allowed us to build in a scrolling panel for the screen, and then a multiple choice question below.
It's probably a bit late for this update but I worked around the same issue by inserting each PNG or JPG file one by one, placing it within the scrolling screen area so it's recognised as being part of the scrolling functionality, resizing it if needed, and then using the down arrow key to shift it downwards until it's located at the end of the page (image) before it. You may need to use the side scroll bar to access the bottom of the previous image.
This creates one continuous document so you can scroll through as many pages as you want to.
Hi Carolyn! It's never too late to share a solution :) It may not help the previous users in this forum thread, but it could certainly assist those that run across it in the future.
First you'll want to host the PDF on a web server, if it's not already on the web. Next, follow these steps to add the URL link to the PDF to a web object.
Give it a try, and let me know if you need any help along the way!
The pdf would need to be hosted on a web server to be utilized as a web object in your course. Here are the instructions for adding a web object to your project in Storyline 3.

I wonder though why you don't simply add the pdf itself to a web object, no saving to PNGs required. See an example of a pdf in a webobject here: http://dev.keypointlearn.com/xcl71_SL/PDFURL/story.html

Glad that this was able to help you out as well. I appreciate you popping in to share.
I'm using Storyline 3. How do I add the pdf to a web object?
Great question, Renuka!
