Multiple Pick Many on one slide

Oct 09, 2013

Greetings All,

I am new to Articulate, and I am trying to figure out a few things in the trial before I make the purchase. What I am trying to do, is an interaction that has 14 statements that the user either has to click on the radio button in column A, or column B. I was hoping that it was a built interaction, but it seems they are all cut off 10 statements. I also tried converting to freeform, and using a pick many, but because I have it set up where any answer is correct besides no answer, after selecting column A, or column B for each statement, it still thinks the answers are incorrect because you did not select column A, and column B for each statement.

I then tried to build this myself by inserting 2 radio buttons to each statement, assigning them variables, and then adding an action that says Jump to slide, next slide, user clicks, next button, If Radio button 1 is equal to selected, Or radio button 2 is equal to selected, And radio button 3 equal to selected Or radio button 4 is equal to selected, and so on for the rest of them. And I also have is setup if none of the radio buttons are selected to show incomplete layer, that warns that a selection must be made for each statement.

The problem that I am having, is that when you select column A, or B for the first statement, it then allows you to advance to the next slide. This is a problem because I need to require the user to select one for each statement before advancing. I do not need it to be recorded by the LMS, if that matters, but I need to require the user to select one for each statement.

So if anyone has any insight on the matter, I would greatly appreciate it. And if there is anything else information wise that I can provide to make it easier to help me, let me know.

Thanks!

Luke

Hi Luke,

Sorry for the delay - there is a lot happening in this one slide! In theory it sounded like it would work..

The piece that seems to be missing when looking at your file, is I don't see where any variables have been assigned. You have created the variables - but they're not being used? When you said variables did you mean states?

Hi Luke,

I'm attaching a story that I based on yours, but I'd started from scratch because it was a bit easier. So, the attached isn't precisely yours - I copied and pasted some objects but not all, and there are only 3 rows of statements, things aren't lined up precisely, etc., but I think you'll get the "schema" and you can apply to yours.

I wasn't sure what the text entries were for, so they're not in this file. Also, for the text boxes "A" and "B" at the top I simply created text boxes not text entry boxes, since it didn't look to me like Learners needed to enter anything there.

I added a visited state to each of the text boxes that have phrases (e.g., "Bonded to others through hate). I inserted a little green checkmark there just for the sake of testing, but that can be removed.

I created 3 T/F variables, default false, named "Row 1, Row 2, and Row 3". I inserted text references to those at the top of the slide, again for testing purposes, but those would be removed in implementation.

Slide Triggers

There are 3, one for each row. For example, the first variable sets Row 1 = true when the state of Text Box 1 (Bonded to others...) AND the state of Text Box 3 (Is controlled by...) are = visited.

Object Triggers

There are 6, one for each text box "phrase". For example, the first text box trigger changes the state of Text Box 1 (Bonded to others) to visited if state of any of (so either) radio buttons 1 or 2 are selected.

Player Triggers

There are 2.

Jump to the next slide when user clicks next IF variable Row 1 AND variable Row 2 AND variable row 3=True

Show layer incomplete when user clicks next IF variable Row 1 OR variable Row 2 OR variable row3=False

Apologies for anything I misunderstood and please shout out with questions!
