Multiple Response , why no multiple feedback?

Sep 02, 2022

Hello there,

A newbie to Storyline, I have a similar question as https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-quizmaker/multiple-feedback-on-multiple-response,
Why does Graded Question -> Multiple Response not support Feedback = By Answer?

That would seem to be a useful feature, similar to Multiple Choice, for example to explain why each answer is good or not.
Should I build my own template for Multiple Response With Feedback By Answer?
Thx for clarifying this.

Think about all the possible combinations of responses someone could select when answering a Multiple Response question. It's a lot even when there are just 4 options—and Storyline allows up to 10 options! That'd make programming feedback "by answer" quite complex. I assume the folks at Articulate decided it wasn't worth the effort, since most folks are probably content with just "Correct" or "Incorrect" feedback.

You can adjust the programming on a Multiple Response slide so it shows different feedback. Just use triggers with conditions based on which buttons the user selected and/or didn't select.

  • That could be done by changing the state of the feedback text and/or other objects on the Incorrect layer.
  • Or it could be done by automatically redirecting the program from the Incorrect layer to a custom layer.

This post is about custom feedback for the Try Again layer, but you might still find it helpful:

Here's more info about conditions:

And this is just in case you might someday want to give partial credit on Multiple Response questions:
