Multiple sound bites play if all 3 boxes are checked on screen

Very new user to Storyline. I have created a screen with 4 triggers to activate the sound when the box is checked. By unchecking the box the sound does not stop. By clicking on the next box the sound of the first box continues to play if it isn't done. I would like the options to be 1. you can't click on check box 2 until check box 1 is done 2. You can't click on the next tab.
On check box 4 this is a State specific box and only those in that State need click on it.
Now being a new user I don't even know where to begin to look for suggestions. Variables? Sound? I do have the E Learning Uncovered Articulate Storyline book and can ask that too if given I feature I should be looking for. Thank you have a splendid day.

Jill,
Two different ways to get the media files to stop when another plays.
1. Create a series of triggers to play and stop. So let's say you have three buttons with three sound files:
2. Another method would be to place each sound on a different layer and then trigger the layers to play. If you set each layer to hide other layers, then the effect would be the same.
I'm not sure I understand your other requirements...would you be able to post a file with your requirements? We could take a look and problem solve.

How fabulous. I will try that. Makes sense I just have to get my mind to make my fingers do the process. Here is what I have thus far. On Screen 6 Question 4 I want that question to be optional (so to speak) they have to click on it if they are in Montana, however, the other States can click next. Perhaps this just needs to be on a screen by itself. I love this program. I am having such fun.
Thank you very much for your quick response. I have spent the whole day reading blogs, forums and watching tutorials in hopes to stumble across the answer. Alas, should have come to you first but...found some interesting tidbits that I probably won't remember tomorrow. Jill
Jill,
There are numerous ways you could set that up. My first question though, is that when I look at the slide, I'm not seeing an indicator for whether I'm in Montana or not. That aside...let's say that you want someone from Montana to view that slide, but not the WY/UT learners.
You could set up a slide immediately prior to it with a Montana button (which links to the next slide) and WY/UT button (which skips them past it to the following slide).
The..."Mike, I just started using this program...take it easy" method:
Or, you could create a slide right at the beginning of the course that asks them for their state. Say, a check box with Montana and another with WY/UT. You'd use a variable that would toggle based upon their answer. Then, as that question slide comes up, you'd have a trigger to evaluate the variable. If they are from Montana, it would show the slide. If not, it would auto skip it.
Jill,
I'm not quite sure what you are trying to acomplish other than the 1st requirement of "You can't click on check box 2 until check box 1 is done"
This can be accomplished by using layers as Mike suggested, but you would want to hide the clickable checkboxes on each layer until the sound is finished playing and change the settings of the layers to 'Prevent users from clicking on the base layer'. So the base layer would have a set of checkboxes, and each of the other layers would have duplicate boxes with one already checked and the others appearing at a certain point in the timeline (after the sound is finished playing). This way you don't have the ability to click on the next checkbox prematurely.
On the attached file you'll see I created a quick example. There isn't actual sound, but the provided text gives you the idea.
Well gentleman I appreciate the feedback. This is kicking my butt!! Mike I don't know if I was supposed to be able to open the triggers you sent as examples but I couldn't. Josh I would like to say I understand what you did and have tried to incorporate it. You two can view what I have done. It seems to be moving forward, however, now my check boxes don't come up but....I am going to prevail. I just still don't know what my triggers are supposed to say but I got the sound close to starting and stopping. Just a matter of lining up the cues. Thank you!!!
Jill,
That was just an image, so nothing to open. If you don't mind, could you attach your source .story file. We could take a look inside and help you out!
Mike
It looks as if you forgot to add the checkboxes to the base layer, and perhaps you don't have them appearing in the individual layers?
On another note, that is a lot of audio to listen to without anything to look at. I suggest having more information come up on the layer you are working with. Take a look at the attached file to see an example.
Good morning Josh and Mike:
Josh - the sound is supposed to correlate with the resource tab at the top which I mention but I am redoing my sound once I get this other issue fixed. I will look at the sample file that is excellent.
Mike - attached is the storyline file. I have tried to find tutorials and really appreciate your offer of assistance in helping to look inside.
Guys - I wish I could take the knowledge you have in your brains on this and transfer to mine on this. I am having fun learning though. I am inspired.
Jill
Jill,
I've added the necessary triggers to slide 7 to only have one audio file play at a time. Let me know if you have any questions!
Mike
Mike - Oh my goodness I so think I get it. Greatly appreciated.
Moving on to training bliss!!!
I have been have so much fun locked away working on this.
Thank you
Have a delightful day.

Not a problem Jill!
I find Storyline pretty addicting because it makes me feel a little bit like a programmer even though I'm not. It's so fun to "make things happen" with triggers.
So don't lock yourself away for too long. Do go get some sunlight every now and then!

Mike that is the beauty of when I get to work at home. I am surrounded by windows, the mountain environment AND PEACE AND QUIET. However, today is an office day. I have to have those too. (I guess).
Thank you until I am stumped again.
