Multiplication and Averages Variables
Mar 11, 2016
Hi Folks:
Brand new to Articulate Storyline 2 and not doing too badly.
Try to get fancy by having a multiplication task.
I have learners insert two number variables that need to be multiplied to create Total #1. I have another column that follows the same layout. I am having a hard time figuring out the Variable set up in Triggers to make these calculations. These are all on one slide.
Following the two columns and working out Total #1 and Total #2, I want to create the average of these two totals on a separate slide.
Going a little bug eyed from learning, thinking I am doing the right thing and not being successful.
Might seem easy but is overwhelming me right now.
Sure appreciate your help.
Roy

Have a look at the attached and see if that's what you want. I left the totals and averages all on one slide but you can refere to these variables anywhere in your project.
My goodness!
Thanks Michael for responding so quickly.
This means a lot to me.
What a great community here!
Appreciatively,
Roy
Hi, Roy -- Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the community!
In addition to the example Michael has shared, here are some additional resources that may be of interest, as well:
How to perform calculations in Storyline (SL1 but worth checking out!)
Interactive Calculator in Storyline 2
Use of Calculator functionality
multiplying two numeric data fields
Hope that helps, and you're welcome to to share your file so others can take a look and offer more specific advice based on your set up, too!
Anything for a fellow Canadian Storyline user :-)
Definitely got it working as you had it, Michael.
Then I realized that my Values 1's and 2's were supposed to be percentages, such 10% X by 80%.
So instead of getting 800 as I do now I need to obtain 8% and then get the average of two percentages. The last part will be the easiest.
Is there a way to address multiplying percentages?
Thanks,
Roy
I guess you could one trigger that would divide the total values by 100.
Here is an updated file with percentages. I hope I understood correctly what you are trying to do.
Michael:
This was a HUGE help to have the trigger scripts. I truly appreciate this lifesaver.
I am all set up now.
Thank YOU!
Roy
