I did something similar.

I've implemented the next/prev/pauze... buttons on my masterslide.

When the user clicks the pauze button, I show a layer containing a 100% transparent background rectangle. The layer stops the timeline. Clicking in the slide while pauze, I just hide the pauze layer.

By implementing this on a masterslide, you'll have this feature wherever the layout is used.

my current client needs an option to rewind along with the seekbar. Is there any way, I can remove only the play/pause button ?

Unfortunately, removing either the play button or the rewind button will also remove the seekbar.  That would make a great feature request, though!
