narration gone when importing Power point

Jul 20, 2015

Someone narrated a power point that I wanted to add interaction to so I imported it into Articulate Storyline 2. The narration didn't come through. Is this a common problem? How do I get the narration to come over?

Hi, Tiffany, and welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues, but can you please confirm that you are working locally? Please also see this information on Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in Articulate Studio '13, as well as How to Repair Articulate Studio '13.

Please let me know if that helps, and you are welcome to attach your file here or a sample that illustrates the behavior you are seeing so that we can take a look if issues persist. Please use the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left corner of the thread itself to Browse for your file. In addition, please note that if reply via email and attempt to attach your file, it will not appear here in the threads for us to review. Thanks!

Christie,

My issue is not with Articulate Studio but Articulate Storyline. Does Storyline allow importing power point narration and videos or can we only do narration and videos in Storyline? Will the narration and videos in a power point presentation import into Storyline without extra work?

Please advise.

Tiffany,

I happened upon something the other day when I was researching another issue - and I made a mental note of what I found since I create my audio files in Audacity or Audition, and then import them into my project.

This is from E-Learning Uncovered: Storyline 2.

"If you import a PowerPoint slide with audio recorded in PowerPoint or Articulate Presenter, the audio is imported and works like any other audio. If the audio was attached as a file in PowerPoint, it will not be imported." (p. 89)

I hope that helps.

Hi, Tiffany - Chuck is correct.  It should come through, as audio, if it was inserted slide by slide. If you used it as a playlist, it is not supported. Please see the following for further details:

Hope that helps clarify things! :)
