National characters å ä and ö not working on results page

Nov 19, 2012

Hello!

I create training in four nordic languages, and it works all fine until Results page. Here there is no support for our national charcters (å, ä and ö), in the "percentage / points" section. Points in swedish is "poäng", which is properly represented in the slide, but ones published in pre-view or final output the information presented is "pong" ie the ä is missing. So far I have  only noticed this happening on the results page. Is there a fix for this?

Hi Andreas!

That is strange. So, the characters are working throughout the course, but not on the results page? Would you mind submitting a support case with our tech team? We'll be able to take a closer look and see what may be causing the problem. Please include your .story file with the case, as well.

I'm curious to see what might be causing this. If you do open a case, please share the case number with me (either in this thread, or in a private message) and I'll follow along with the progress of the case.

Thanks!

Good morning Andreas,

I checked on the progress of your case today. I just wanted to update this thread, in case any other Heroes experience the same issue.

The full article on this issue can be found here.

Here's the details:

Some special characters—such as Danish characters æ, å, and ø—and diacritical marks—such as accents (ó), umlauts (ö), and tildes (õ)—may not display in your published Storyline course if they're in the same text box with one or more variable references.

This is a known issue. It'll be fixed in the next Storyline update. In the meantime, place the variable references in a separate text box to avoid this behavior.
