Navigate course freely
Jan 27, 2015
Hi all,
Hopefully someone can help me, I've been trying to figure this one out for a while. (I've researched previous discussions and couldn't find my answer, apologies if I am duplicating a previous discussion).
My issue:
I am creating a course (in Storyline 1) were I want the learner to have the freedom to complete tasks in any order they wish (6 tasks have to be completed then the learner will be 'certified'). My issue is that I want my icons to change from 'locked' to 'in process' to 'complete' states. It would be an easy solution if I locked the course to be completed in a linear fashion, but I would like the learner freedom.
I presume if a solution is possible (which I'm sure it is for an expert) it would involve states and triggers. Hope this all makes sense?
Any help would be appreciated (I'm still learning the ropes)
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,
You're likely going to use states, triggers and variables - the variables will keep track where users have been. Here is an older thread with a few different examples and ideas of how to use a visited state and adjust a custom menu, and here's another one although a bit shorter - a good example is shared.
