Navigation menu in a roll over zone

Oct 16, 2017

Hello,

I have a problem with a roll over trigger that displays a navigation menu located in a slide layer:

When I roll the mouse over the button "Menu", the menu is displayed, but when I moove my mouse outside of the button, the menu stays. Actually, it works only when I moove my mouse on the left or right of the button, but not when I go down or up.

My triggers seems OK.

Is there any tips for the creation of navigation menu? Or to help me resolve this issue?

Thank you,

Jessica

Thanks for your post, Jessica!

It sounds like the menu appears when you mouse hovers over a button, but the menu goes away when you move the mouse up or down, is that correct?

Would you mind sharing a sample file of what you have set up so far? Even just one slide will do the trick. Also, could you tell us more about how you would like the menu to behave when you move the mouse away from the button?

Hello Alyssa,

Thank you for your reply!

Actually, the menu appears when the mouse hovers over the button, but the drop down menu doesn't go away when I move the mouse up or down, outside of the menu zone. But it goes away if I move the mouse right or left.

I would like it to appear when the mouse is over and being able to select one part of the menu. But when I move the mouse outside the menu, I would like it to disappear.

I don't know if it is clear. I send you a file. I have indicated which button it is.

Thank you for your feedback.

Hi Jessica. I don't have SL360 so I can't open your file but if I understand your question I would guess that you are missing a hotspot to close your menu layer. To confirm, you have a menu button on the base layer that opens a new layer with menu choices on it. But the menu choices are not disappearing when you move your mouse away. If that's the case you need to make sure you have a hotspot with a trigger on the base layer behind the Menu button to Close the Choices Layer. It needs to be slightly larger than the choices and the menu button themselves. That way the learner has no choice but to close the choices layer when they move outside of the choices or menu button.

Here's how I would set up the base layer with the choices layer being shown grayed out:

The properties on the choices layer need to be set so that you can click on the base layer. Hope that helps.
