Navigational/Timeline Query...
Feb 24, 2013
Hi,
I have a "Master" slide with audio, and 2 sentences.
Each sentence has a Trigger so that when clicked, it takes you to a set of 2 "Topic" slides. You complete these and at the end of each set, you are returned to the Master slide.
There is a Trigger on each of the Topic Slides #2.
It resets a Variable which means once you return to the Master slide, the audio is not played again (slide is set to "Reset to Initial State" - the "Automatically" and "Resume Saved State" just override the audio controller).
HOWEVER...the Timeline always starts from the beginning again when you return to the Master Slide.
Is there a way of getting the Timeline to always stay at the "end", rather than running through again - albeit silently?
Thanks
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
I don't think this is possible.
Is there a way of doing this with layers instead of slides ?
You have control over the timeline with layers...
If not is duplicating the masterslide an option. One copy has the full audio/motion/... and the duplicated one, just has the static end situation of your original one?

Hi Geert
Yeah - I was thinking of the "static slide"/copy thing, but I did not want to get into (hidden duplications).
Even with layers I still have the issue of the Base Layer timeline (I think...)
Personally - I am not too worried by it - after all, the user/learner IS returning to the slide, so some sort of "timer" showing is not entirely incongruent - but it would be great to have a trigger/condition that said "Set the Seekbar to the end if the user ever returns here".
There probably is an elegant way to do this - it is just eluding me at the moment...
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
yup I agree, there must be a more elegant way...
On the same tangent, a feature were we could directly jump to a marker (Queue point) on the timeline would even be nicer.
I wonder whether somebody has asked this as a feature request (hint )
Cheers
Geert
"Temporal triggers" were certainly discussed in the beta, based on either timeline attributes (such as Cue Points) or timing designations (minutes/seconds).
Suspect may have to wait a version or two for these, (although Magnus - if you are listening........)

Hi Bruce
I may be misunderstanding what you're trying to do but is there a reason why you don't change the revisit settings to resume in saved state? Doesn't this keep you at the end of the timeline when it is reached?
H
Hi Helen
Sorry - should have pointed out that some people "jump" to the buttons, (and do not want to lock them out from doing that...).
All sorted - just going with "silent" moving timeline.
