I'm not sure if that's exactly what you want but have a look at the attached file. It uses one button that when clicks cycles through the layers of a slide. That is done with a numeric variable that is increase every time the button is clicked.
While that was not what I was looking for it is very useful for a different part of my lesson. I finally got it taken care of. I had to ensure that only certain layers of the slide would reset when it was revisited. I guess my description was rather lacking, but i was not sure how to explain it. Thanks for your input.
