To be more precise, I'd like that learners first try to place the items, then the green/red feed-back appears after clicking on Validate. Do you see what I mean?
now that you have changed it to a 'freeform quiz slide' you don't need to change the states with triggers...make the change to the drag and drop options to delay the state changes until the user clicks validate.
Also your states will need to be the built in states - see Step 1, I coloured them in just for testing and changed them to be the built in state so I duplicated 'good' and it is now 'drop correct' and duplicated incorrect and it is now 'drop incorrect'
Hope this makes sense - shout out if not
Also you'll need to fix up your feedback layers re formatting

Hi Claire
do you want to upload your file - easier for someone to help if they can workwith your setup
Oh yes of course! Here it is.
Hi Claire
see attached. I have only added triggers for Step 1 so you can replicate with the other two.
Hope that helps
Thank you Wendy! It works!

Hi Claire
I didn't see a validate button on your slide. Are you having any feedback layers or just the immediate 'colour' feedback of the dropped items?
You're all right, in my idea, there are feedback layers (but not in may file...).
Here is the new version. Sorry!
