need help with Articulate on my MAC

Jan 03, 2021

I am trying to get storyline working and have downloaded peak, but it will not run. I found parallels, but it cant download either because it says my MAC OS version is out of date. How do I update this? Will Storyline work on a chromebook? Any help would be appreciated

Hey there Calley!

Happy to meet you here in the E-Learning community :) Appreciate you stopping by and posting!

To get yourself up and running with Storyline on your Mac, I think you'll need to make sure you're installing the correct version of Parallels for your macOS version.  Here's what I would do:

First - Check to see what macOS your currently running - If you're not sure how to do this, here's a quick how to:

Click the Apple menu  in the top left corner of your screen, then choose About This Mac. You should see the macOS name on the pop up.  This is also where you can check for software updates, and system specs! Here's a screen shot of an example:

Second - Find the compatible Parallels Desktop for Mac version:

Parallels Desktop 16 for Mac - if you're currently running the one of following:

  • macOS 11.0 Big Sur (when released)
  • macOS Catalina 10.15.5 or newer
  • macOS Mojave 10.14.6 or newer
  • macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 or newer

Parallels Desktop 15 for Mac - if you're currently running the one of following:

  • macOS Catalina 10.15
  • macOS Mojave 10.14.6 or newer
  • macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 or newer
  • macOS Sierra 10.12.6 or newer

If you don't see your macOS listed above - you might be running an older version.  If that's the case, take a look at what is needed for that here:

Also, I wanted to share this How to Use Articulate Storyline on a Mac how to.  It has super helpful videos walking you through the installs for Parallels, Windows, and Storyline! Then, when you're ready to get going with Storyline, here's a guide on Using Articulate Software on a Mac with Parallels Desktop.

Unfortunately Storyline will not run on Chromebook as it's not a supported authoring tool - here's a link to the Software requirements for Storyline. I'm hoping that the info I've shared with you will get you up and running.  If you don't mind, check back in here and let me know if this helped.  And if you feel that you're struggling, or have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask for help!
