Need Help with Re-enabling the Next Button

Jan 31, 2018

Hello Articulate Community.  I have a slide that I need help with.  I have 3 non-graded questions with 2 button options for an answer for each question.  I want my learners to choose the correct answer (it's not graded), but I want their navigation among the 3 questions to be unrestricted.  I want the Next button disabled until they select an answer for each question.  Here's how I have it set it up:

Q1- "which of the options is right"  Button A or Button B- both options open  slide layer 1 that gives them feedback.  They click a Button on Layer 1 to go back to base slide.

Q2- "which of the options is right"  Button C or Button D- both options open  slide layer 2 that gives them feedback.  They click a Button on Layer 2 to go back to base slide.

Q3- "which of the options is right"  Button E or Button F- both options open  slide layer 3 that gives them feedback.  They click a Button on Layer 3 to go back to base slide.

This all works great, as intended.

Next button is disabled until all 3 questions are answered (remember, it's not graded, this is for information only).

My dilemma- how do I get the Next button back to normal, while ensuring my leaners select an answer for each question, in no particular order??

Thanks in advance community- it's great to be back, I've been away for a few months as I transitioned to a new company and am now building courses again!!

Hi Matt,

This is what I would do:

  1. Create 3 T/F variables, one for each question (say you name them Q01 / Q02 / Q03, and set them to False)
  2. Add a trigger to each feedback layer to "adjust variable [Q01] to True when the user clicks [button close] on this layer"
  3. Add another trigger on each fb layer (after the previous trigger) to "change state of NEXT button to Normal when user clicks [button close] on the condition that variables Q01 AND Q02 aAND Q03 are equal to true"
  4. The hid layer trigger must come after the previous two triggers on each fb layer.

Let me know if that works!
