Need to reset variable when returning to slide

Hi everyone, thanks for your help in advance!

On the 1.3 9-box 2-answer slide in this file, I'm using the Try again button in the Wrong answer layer to do two things:

• Reset variable 2correct and 8correct to false
• Maintain the requirement that the Answer 2 panel must be selected before the Answer 8 panel to elicit a correct answer, regardless of how many tries the learner requires.

Right now this all works the first time through. But if the learner requires a second or third try, the variables of 2correct and 8 correct are maintaining their old values. At some stage it's possible to click Answer 8 before Answer 2 and still elicit a correct answer. How can I prevent this from happening?
