Can you recommend an open source LMS that is (a) Storyline compliant, (b) has the ability to host 45,000 or so users (NOT concurrently), and, also important (c) not costly?
I know. I'm asking a lot. But the Heroes have never let me down. :-)
I'm not affiliated with the company in any way, but a favorite of mine for this kind of setup would be OpenOLAT. It puts most Enterprise LMS's to shame, however it does come with a few quirks such as no SCORM 2004 compliance and a good amount of admin/management learning curve. But both scalability and feature-list is off the charts.
You will need a dedicated server, so this is not your average SaaS pay-what-you-use solution, and installation for a production system is a bit of a challenge (I could help you there), but ultimately worth the effort.
It has never let me down with any kind of Articulate output, version 1, 2, or 360 trial.
I'm not sure about the 45K # of users, but Moodle is an open source (aka free) LMS that supports SCORM and works with Storyline. It might be worthwhile to check into it.
Storyline does work very well on Moodle. Alexandros mentioned a steep learning curve. Moodle is no different. The learning curve and initial set-up and ongoing maintenance of the Moodle can be costly, if not in money, certainly in time. There are also consultants who can set-up and maintain Moodle sites.
As it turns out, Michael, our organization has opted for Moodle. It is the most versatile, supports SCORM (vital to us), and works with a great many software programs, including Storyline.

Excellent, Alex.
Thank you very much for the tip!

Moodle is high on our list but I wasn't sure if it worked with Storyline.
Thank you for your help, Michael!

Hi Richard,

Thank you for the "heads up", Julie!

Thank you for your input!
Thank you, Julie. We were fortunate to bring on board people who are very familiar with Moodle so the learning curve was not at all an issue for us.
