Neeh Help for Fill in the blank question
May 14, 2014
my question must be sound familiar but it is with different scenario.
I am trying to create 'fill in the blank' which is very simple/ straight forward, but this time I stuck with the requirement it has.
My question is like: who are the finalist of last football world cup? (with submit button to get feedback)
for this I have to give two text boxes. user can write team A or B in any text box. Its like each text box is having multiple correct answers.
please suggest how it can be achieve. Thanks in advance.

Hi Pankaj and welcome to Heroes!
The built in "fill in the blank" question type only allows for one fill in the blank per slide - but there is a method described here on how to set up a freeform pick many to look like a multiple fill in the blank, and the second video will deal with if they can have multiple correct answers.
Hope that helps!
Hi Ashley
I have already reviewed those video before posting my query. I am having a requirement where single text box can have multiple correct words.
Two text boxes on screen (text 1 and text 2), correct answer is "Good" and "Bad".
user can enter Good or bad in either box, good in text 1 and bad in text 2 OR good in text 2 and bad in text 1, in both scenario answers is correct.
Thanks!
Hi Pankaj,
We are sharing the example storyfile in which we have created a text entry in which you can enter multiple correct responses. Hope this will figured out your problem
Hi Pankaj,
If you're already reviewed those videos and are still having a difficult time setting this up, it may help if you can share your .story file with us so that we can take a look at what you've got started. You may also want to compare your set up to that which Creativ Technologies shared with you that offers an unscored text entry with multiple correct options.
Hi Ashley,
Here is the sample file for what I am trying to create. I have also write requirement note in file.
Thanks for the help!
Hi Pankaj,
Thanks for sharing the file. I took a look - and it seems to be behaving normally. I typed in cat and dog (tried in both text boxes) - was shown the "correct" mark for each - and then I redid it and typed in something else like horse and saw the incorrect set up. Can you tell us a bit more about what you'd like to have happen?
OH my bad.. i must have mentioned key point.
well try to type cat or dog in both boxes, in this case I get correct response for both text boxes where as I want one is to correct and other mark as incorrect.
Hope this will help you to help me.
Thanks!
Hi Pankaj,
I've been playing around with this - and I'm not sure I'm able to figure out a set up that works. The reason being, that you'd need to make them dependent on one another - so that they're both only correct if the user provides a different answer for both which could be correct it's scored right, and if they provide matching answers for both (i.e. both cat) it's incorrect. The problem then comes if they write cat in one (should be correct) and horse in another - both would be marked incorrect.
Hi Ashley
If user fills one correct answer in both (i.e. cat in both boxes), in this case first box is marked as correct and second as incorrect.
This would be much esker with a matching drop down question. Although achievable with text boxes it would be a nightmare to build and ensure it works
Hi pankaj,
Here is the resolve of your querry, hope you get what you exactly wanted.
Please let me know if you have any issue regarding the same.
Phil, drop down will be inappropriate for my question moreover I don't want to create drop down.
Avinash, I will update if it works. Thanks!
Hi Ashley!
I am also having difficulty creating a Fill in the blanks question. Mine is much simpler though - 1 correct answer and 3 distracters as options - so there is 1 blank having 1 correct answer and learner will get 4 choices. When I created this question in Form view, I could view only 1 option in the Preview mode. What happened to other 3 options? Even after publishing I could not view all 4 options. How will the learner select an answer if he does not get any answer choices? Please help me fix this!
Thanks !
Hi Priya,
Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
I apologize for the confusion - Fill In The Blank questions will give you multiple options for a correct response, but don't list the option. I think you're looking for something more along the lines of a drop-down question or a multiple choice question. These would display answers to the learners and allow them to choose one they believe is correct.
If I'm misunderstanding, could you share a little more information about how you see this working in your project?
Thanks!
