Network Drive - My Documents work-around?

Sep 16, 2013

When I install Articulate products (including Storyline), it creates the following folder:

<network drive letter>:... /My Documents/My Articulate Projects/

This is the default location.

However, when I am not in the office, I sometimes don't have access to this drive (I save my files onto C:\Users\myname\Documents\My Articulate Projects\ )

Is there a method for changing the default directory?  Without access to that file, the product/s fail to start up.

Hi Tim and welcome to Heroes!

As far as I know, you cannot change the default path created by Articulate.

However, this doesn't mean that you must save, or publish to this specific folder. When you first save a presentation, you'll be prompted to enter a project name and file destination. When you see this prompt, you can choose whatever path you'd like for the file.

If you've already saved the file to the default location, but you'd like to save it somewhere else, you can click on the Articulate menu and choose "Save As". You'll be able to save the presentation to another location if you'd like.

If you'd like to change the location of your published files, you can do this in the publishing window.

Hi Tim,

Where Storyline was installed was likely a setting within your own computer - but we always recommend installing it to your local drive (typically C: drive). You may want to uninstall and reinstall Storyline and double check where it's saving your program files and make any adjustments at that point. You'll just want to save and close any open .story files before conducting the uninstall.
