Good morning

we are planning to buy the software articulate storyline, we kindly ask if you have available, among the various characters ,a middle aged man wearing a protective helmet for construction site, if not if  there is the possibility to costumize an existing one.

waiting for your kind answer,

Consulenza - welcome to the Heroes!

Articulate do not tend to publish details of anything before release.

At the moment the character that you seek is unavailable, so I suspect that is this is something you urgently need - one of the designers on this board may be able to help.

It may be that Articulate can provide details of whoever produced their artwork, and in that case they could produce something for you with the same look and feel?

You could PM Dave Anderson or Jeanette Brooks to pursue this further.

You may have to go to a third-party resource for this in the interim.  Many of us have our favorite clip art and photo sources, many of them free.

A thread on this from a while back:  http://community.articulate.com/forums/p/1187/6719.aspx  .  See the list that David Anderson of Articulate accumulated.

I subscribe to iclipart.com and just did a search on "construction worker" and got 23 pages of possible images, many of the images being middle-aged workers.

I am also hoping they add construction workers to the mix of characters! What did you end up doing? I will be developing several safety related courses within the next couple months and have been brainstorming what to do. I've already used the Storyline characters in previous courses and would like to continue. (I have no budget to purchase new ones)

I've been using Articulate Storyline since it first came out and have managed to create several of my own illustrated characters. But I didn't stop there! I have managed to integrate my characters into Storyline with all the expressions and poses. I created a large library of props from articulates characters such as eyes, hair, clothes, etc. and also changed the color of the clothes so that I have the ability to swap between characters.

It's taken me a long time to create these props and to learn how to integrate my characters with Storyline. But it's been well worth the time I've spent. I know have over 100+ characters I can use and my library is getting larger.

I have a few charcters with construction hats, boots, etc.

I'm a little torn whether or not to show how I've been able to create these new characters and intergrate them into Storyline. I've spent a long time creating these characters and I was thinking of possibly selling them to the Articulate community. Not sure what I'll do yet but I'll post a few screen shots of a couple new characters shortly.

Thanks.

Think I mentioned this during the beta.  As a consumer, I often prefer the option of a "pay as you go" service where I can go and design the character(s) and pose that I want (and economically) and then download them for use in Storyline.  Be nice if props and backgrounds could be included--a character and scene generator.

Not a big fan of paying mucho dineros for a collection of characters and poses and then only use a very small subset of them.  Nor am I a big fan of subscribing to a clipart/photo service and spending more time searching for characters and other things than I working on a course.

We are getting close to launching our character store soon.

Here is a preview of the characters to be available on launch. I'd love to know what styles / professions you guys are interested in so that we can start developing them.

Here is another thread, that shows how you could use the characters with states:

Excellent preview of characters!

My request would be to have characters in business casual attire -- and I mean business casual: women in pants or jeans and men in pants or jeans and button up or polo shirts.

And then as far as poses: I would want the availability for the characters to look like they are seated behind a desk and maybe their arms are outstretched as though they are typing or using a computer - or like some of the articulate cartoon characters - having them at a desk with computer. Also would be wonderful if there was a pose option with a phone headset. My scenarios are typical desk-type jobs that center around computers and people in meeting rooms

Thanks,

Anna

Hi Anna, I have a very limited set of characters on my web site, but some of them match what you want.  The character packs come with phones, desks etc.http://pinchedhead.com/index.php/store.html

Consulenza,

I've started overlaying images onto the existing characters that come with Storyline. It's a bit of a stretch, but I'm hoping to make it work. For example, I put a safety "vest" on this character:

Paul Figueiredo

Hi Melissa,

At the current time, I don't have a construction male and female character but I can certainly create these two custom characters for you to use but it will take about a week or so.

If you need these characters as soon as possible, I also have the ability to take the existing built-in characters from Storyline and slap on a hard hat and vest. I won't charge you anything for these characters since it won't take me much time to develop them.

Let me know which two built-in characters you need and I'll create them. I'll send you a link so you can download the installation file. The installation file will allow for the integration of the two characters you pick with Storyline. This way, you can have them available from the Illustrated Characters menu within Storyline.

Let me know if you're insterested in purchasing the custom characters or if you just want me to add a vest and hard hat to two of the built-in characters that came with Storyline. Again, I won't charge you for the built-in characters if you choose this option.

Thank you.

Paul
