New Drag and Drop bug?

Apr 20, 2018

Hi - since updating Storyline 360 today - I have noticed that my drag and drop interaction created using custom triggers (rather than through a freeform template) no longer work as they once did.

If you pick up and drop an item onto a drop target, then try to pick it up and place it on another drop target, the drag and drop item returns to its start position.

From this point onwards you can't continue to drag and drop in a way that makes the interaction function.

Prior to the update you could move items on different drop targets at will (for me at least).

Has anyone else encountered this?

Updated to v3.15.1543.0

Hi Martin,

On v3.15.15453.0 (not sure if you've got a typo or if your version number is similar but has a different number of digits than mine) I am not able to recreate the issue as best as I understand it from your description.  (In my case, I'm dragging an icon from one shape to another, a total of three shapes as targets). See attached and let me know if you're trying to do something materially different.

Hi William,

Thanks for responding and sending through an example. I did indeed have a typo and have the same version as you.

My drag and drop is set up differently. I have attached my example. This method used to work swell. But not anymore... seems to behave in an erratic manner, if at all.

Unfortunately I can't share any video or the original interaction I built.

Thanks again :)

I don't have an explanation as to why your two pins do not drop correctly. I added a new, simple shape object and that one snaps back, drops and changes states as expected. See attached. The only difference I can see is that your pins are bitmaps, my object is a shape.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the example. I have found out that the problem lies with the image. Your shape example made me consider how I had originally built my drop items. They are a bitmap image with a shape background.

The update I recently performed for some reason stopped them working. Rebuilding the drop items with a fresh background shape, and re-importing the bitmap image solved the riddle.

Thanks everyone for assisting :)

Thanks for sharing your solution, I was scratching my head about this one :-)
