I've installed the latest update of Storyline 360, which was supposed to include the following bug fix:
Fixed: Numeric-entry fields displayed default values of zero after renaming their underlying variables. They should remain blank until learners enter values.
However, zeros are still showing when renaming the variable. Has this fix been correctly implemented?
Thanks for reaching out! I'm seeing the fix applies only to newly created Numeric variables. If you have numeric text entries already in a file that you've upgraded the Zero will still show upon preview.
You could duplicate your existing text entries and rename those if needed to have it display without the zeros. Let me know if you need anything else!
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
It's happening on every project, so I've just created a test slide with a numeric entry field so you can see what's happening. When the variable is set to its default ('NumericEntry') the zero doesn't appear, but as soon as this is changed to something else (in this case 'test'), the zero shows.
I think I've just worked out what I'm doing wrong. I was changing the variable to a different one, rather than just renaming the NumericEntry to something else. It works when renaming the variable, but not when changing it to another variable that's already been created.
That makes a bit more sense! If you're switching the variable value entirely, it will still showcase the 0. I'll share this with the team to see if we can get more details!

Hi Ashley.
It's also doing it with newly created numeric entry boxes.
