Next button disabled

Jan 29, 2014

Hi all,

My colleague an I are very perplexed with the behaviour we have been experiencing with Multiple Response question slides and Resume to Saved State slide property.

In essence, the user selects each item they have view to confirm they have viewed it, then select Submit. The Complete layer shows and by selecting Continue they are taken to the next scene.

All is well up to this point. Should a user select previous they will be taken back to the Multiple Response  and the items they selected are still selected however, the Next button will not function at all.

I have attached a link to a mock up and the story file.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Currently we are using the Menu pane to allow users to skip around it but obviously this is not ideal.

Thanks in advance

Lyndon

Hi Lyndon,

First, welcome to the community!

Also, thank you very much for sharing the link and the project file.

I took a look at the file, and I agree, this isn't expected behavior. After doing some research, it looks like this is a bug we're currently investigating. I'm also going to share the file you posted here with our QA team as well.

I've also added this thread to the report. When we have more information on a fix for this, we'll update any related threads.

I was able to get this working with your project with a little modification. I'm not entirely sure if this solution will work for you, but hopefully it helps :)

What I did was enable the "Next" and "Previous" buttons for the question slide. Now, realizing that you probably won't want learners to just jump ahead, I added a variable called "Complete" with an initial value of "False".

I have the variable adjusting to "True" when the learner sees your "Complete" layer and prompt. I then added two triggers: one that allows the learner to jump to the next scene when that value equals "true" and one that displays your "Incomplete" layer when the value of the variable equals "False".

I'm attaching the modified version, just in case you want to take a look at the changes I made.

Thanks!
