Next button during Quiz review is inconsistent
Feb 10, 2016
Hi Everybody,
I really, really, really need help with this one. I am working on the last of a nine module suite and UAT has come back with an issue surrounding the next button when reviewing a quiz.
Put simply; on some questions (custom built/freeform multi choice ones) it goes to the next slide, for all others (Articulate 'Quizzing' templates) it doesn't. Instead it follows the branching associated to the 'continue' button on the correct feedback slide.
How this is possible, I do not understand - they have identical logic/triggers.
Possible solutions include:
- Removing the automatic previous and next button but of course we know you can't do that (Really awkward functionality and always so hard to explain to clients).
-Correcting the logic for the next button but where does it get it from? it seems to be getting it from different places depending on the type of question slide. How is that even possible?
-Remake all of the Quizzing template questions, get stuck using one question type and blow the deadlines and lose a lot of money in rework.
Obviously I would like to avoid option three.
I have a attached the file for testing. Please note that the navigation is supposed to be via the menu at the top left or via tabs/clicking on the question numbers. The 'previous' and 'next' button when reviewing were not supposed to be there but, hey you can't get rid of them so I explained them away as a "feature"... which unfortunately makes this situation worse.
When you select 'continue' on a questions correct layer it will jump you to a slide and straight back. This is to make the green tick appear, indicating the question has been done. Once all questions are correct it also makes the 'next section/training progress' layer appear.
Unfortunately this is the navigation the 'next' button seems to be following on Quizzing slides... which makes no sense at all.
All and any solutions welcomed!!
Thanks

I guess I should mention, I want the next button to go to the next slide.
Hi, James -- Many thanks for your question and for sharing your file; we'll be sure to check it out as soon as possible! In the meantime, may I ask if you are encountering the same behavior when testing your course in the intended environment? And also, have you had a chance to run through the troubleshooting steps listed here to see if you find improvement?
Hi Christie,
This is occur in the intended environment (when published to LMS) on the Dev or Prod site, or when published in any other way across a number of computers/user logins.
Do we have any ideas why different behaviour is caused as yet?
Thanks
Hi, James -- My apologies for the delay in response, as I experienced the same odd behavior you mentioned when I tested your course in SCORM Cloud. Unfortunately, was also unable to determine the cause, so I had created a support ticket on your behalf. It looks like there may have been an error during the submission process where the ticket was not received, so I will repeat the process once more and one of our engineers will be with you shortly. Your continued patience is appreciated. :)
Hello again, James -- Just wanted to note that your case is #00737750 and you should be receiving a confirmation to the email address we have on file for you momentarily if not already. If you should not receive the email in the next few minutes, please check your SPAM folder as it may have been routed there in error.
Thank you Christie - it will be great to get a result on this.
Hi Christie
I can't seem to find an email regarding the case you submitted for me anywhere. Is their anything in the email that I would need/help me in tracking this case?
Thanks
Hi James! Looks like we've sent a few responses, so perhaps they are not making it to you. The e-mails would come from support@articulate.com, so be sure to check your spam/junk folders as well.
If you do not see anything, then perhaps we have an incorrect e-mail. Could you please e-mail at the above address and reference Case#00737750 so that we can get the responses to the correct e-mail.
I am experiencing the same issue. Was this resolved? If so, how was it resolved?
Hello Melanie - This thread is a bit dated and I do not see where we received response back from James, so I do not have an update to share with you.
If you are having difficulty with your quiz and would like us to take a look, please feel free to share the .story file so that we can assist.
