Articulate Storyline 1, restricted and locked navigation settings only affected the menu. In contrast, the navigation settings in Articulate Storyline 2 affect both the menu and the player buttons, making it much easier to control the overall navigation for your course. To learn how to restrict or lock navigation in Storyline 2, see this article.
I do have the navigation set to Restricted, but it only allows the user to view the current and previous slides within the current lesson. They cannot go back and view slides in previous lessons.
Am I just stuck with this problem with the NEXT button (having to click more than once)?
I'm not sure what you mean by previous lessons? Are they linked all with the same .story file? If so, the only way to jump between specific slides would be to use the player menu.
Having to click it more than once is likely based on your slide's overall timeline as I mentioned - in Storyline 2, the menu navigation settings also impact the next/prev buttons in terms of not allowing the user to leave th eslide until it's been completed. You could change the slide timeline to much shorter (if there isn't audio/animation/media) so that the user can advance when they'd like.
Yes, there's one story file that is divided into Lesson 1, Lesson 2, etc. The slides are set so that the user advances by clicking the NEXT, CONTINUE, or some other button as directed. Should I still adjust the timeline so that so many clicks on the NEXT button are necessary to advance. The problem is only with the NEXT button.
Using the Player menu, the user can only go back to previous slides/topics within the same Lesson, but cannot go back to review slides/topics in already completed lessons. Shouldn't the user be able to also go back and review slides/topics in lessons that they've already completed?
Is the other lesson in a scene or something similar? I'm having a difficult time determining how this is set up in your course with multiple lessons. Could you share some screenshots or an example .story file here with us?
Thanks Debra - could you share your .story file? If all these lessons are in the same .story file, they should be able to navigate back - so I'd want to take a look at what you've set up. If you're unable to share in the forums, you can send along to us here.
I am having the same issue. Set to restricted and all slides are linked to jump to the next slide. If I click "next" three or four times I can advance within the story, but not if I click 'next' once.
Thanks for the suggestion--It looks like my audio file is still trying to play on the timeline and the user cannot click next. Is there a way to Restrict Navigation in the menu but still allow users to move forward with the next button?

I have audio that corresponds to each slide. I have realized the reason I cannot proceed when clicking on "Next" is because the audio is still playing, even if silenced. Is there a way to keep the navigation as "restricted" but still move forward without listening to the audio? Obviously I could set it to Free, but I do not want to have freedom in the menu bar--just the ability to click Previous or Next.

To clarify. . .

Yes
Each lesson is in a separate scene--Lesson 1 is Scene 1, Lesson 2 is Scene 2, and so on.

Hi Erin!
If you have restricted the navigation, perhaps you are simply waiting on the timeline to complete before proceeding?
If you have a .story file that you would like us to take a look at, feel free to share.

You will not be able to do so Erin. As I shared above, they are tied together.
