I need some assistance. I have a variable and triggers to allow the Next Button available upon revisit. However, when wheel is clicked on, it will advance to next slide. - that works
Next button becomes available at the same time as the wheel, but will not advance until time line ends. -at initial review of the slide.
Here is an example of what I use to check for slide completion in a linear course. It uses a variable and adds 1 to it if the slide hasn't been visited before. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
Thank you, Daniel for your tip. My roadblock on the slide, the Next Button does not advance when it becomes available when the timeline reaches a certain time.
I want to give the learner an opportunity to either click on an image to advance or click on the Next Button. However, the Next button works when the user clicks on the Previous button, and then clicks on the Next button. - But does not advance at the initial visit.
Therefore, the .story provided will not work on this particular slide.
I would try changing your third trigger down to match the timing of the other Next button/Normal trigger instead of when the timeline ends.
I'd also reorder the triggers as follows - 1, 2, 4, 5, 3. If that doesn't work, maybe see if you can post a project file here and we can take a look. Hope that helps.
It's difficult to understand your issue exactly without looking at the file. But if your course is linear you can just use 1 variable to check slide completion for your entire course.
All you need to do is have a number assigned to each slide via conditions, then add to the variable on each slide in whatever way you need that slides completion to be accomplished. Then once you return to that slide and it sees that the number is equal to or greater than its specified number, it knows to set the next button to normal.
Daniel and Luke: While adjusting the triggers, I have changed the settings for the Next Button to 'Hidden' and that seems to work. I will be testing this course on my local laptop shortly, and then within our LMS.
Keep us posted on what happens when you test on your LMS. I wouldn't suggest testing locally since security restrictions there can cause various features of your content to fail. If you'd like to test your file in a second location, give SCORM Cloud a try. It's the industry standard for LMS testing, and you can create a free account here.
I usually test locally for the functionality, and then uploaded to our test LMS so that I do not have to keep re-uploading if there are any additional changes needed. - Thank you for the tip on the SCORM Cloud.
However, the Next button advancing appears to be working the in the test environment. Now I have a completely different roadblock going on. Have a free form that is drag and drop activity and it appears to be automatically submitting to the LMS as a completion before the learner completes the course. Will have to investigate on what is going on.
Glad to hear you got the Next button issue sorted out, and let me know if you'd like us to take a closer look at the drag and drop activity. You may also want to take a look at these troubleshooting steps, since your course is reporting completion too early. If you don't mind sharing your file, I'd be happy to test it for you!

Hi Jeannie
do you have your player menu option set to 'Restricted'? If so, the next button won't advance until the timeline ends regardless of triggers set.
Hi Wendy,
The Player menu is set to 'Free'
