Am using the Stroyline 2 Demo, and the next buttons are not doing anything, I have tried everything I can think of to make them work but they won't. however the previous buttons do work
I was having the same problem. and then it self corrected.
I first noticed it on my welcome slide, which has 30 seconds of music, but the user can click next at any time. Next is enabled, but unresponsive until the end of the timeline.
It occurred whether previewing scene or project or after publishing.
It occurredwith no triggers about the state of next button.
It occurredwith triggers setting state of next button to normal at beginning of timeline.
It occurredwith trigger setting state of next button to disabled at beginning of timeline and then back to normal when timeline reaches 1 second.
It occurredif the trigger is for "next slide" or specifically named slide.
It occurredno matter the status of the seekbar.
THEN- I created a new project to import a couple of those slides to post here, and the problem was gone.
The only difference? The original project was authored in Storyline and was being edited in Storyline 2.
You mentioned the import worked and resolved the behavior - and I'm curious if you were working on local project files as described here. Working off a network or USB drive is known to cause unusual behavior.
Please feel free to let us know if you encounter it again.
This is something I was just experiencing and the way to fix it was both random, and felt unrelated.
I had to go the player properties, go to the MENU tab. Select the gear icon at the bottom for Menu Options, and in that Menu Options Dialogue box change navigation restriction to "Free". I attached a picture.
I don't know if that helps you, but it fixed all of my problems. Now it works so that I have the NEXT button disabled from the beginning of each slide until the time line reaches that point of my choosing.
Thanks for popping in to share Katherine. If you have restricted navigation, the timeline controls your ability to go to the next slide, so that could certainly be of assistance.

Hi Jacob
are you previewing one slide only trying to get to the next one? Or does it happen when you preview a range of slides?
previweing and publishing across all slides, even ones that skip to different scenes or slides not necessarily the next one e.g. 2 links to 5
Hmmm...that's strange. Could you attach a .story file?

Good luck!
