Next/Previous Button Glitches

Oct 15, 2020

UPDATE:  As best I can tell, this glitch only happens when you advance to the next slide using on-slide navigation (i.e., buttons).  Advancing using the actual next button does not seem to cause the glitch.

Howdy,

I've set triggers throughout a course to make the next/previous buttons disappear and reappear based on a number of factors, which is great.

Where the glitch is, though, is that occasionally when navigating the course both buttons appear for a brief instant and then disappear.  So, when I click to move forward to a new slide, as the new slide loads the buttons appear and disappear in what is less than 1 second.  That preserves the functionality I need, but looks sketchy af.  Anyone else ever experience something like this?  This occurs in slide preview, project preview, Review 360 and the LMS.

Thanks!

Hi Micah,

Thanks for reaching out with what you're experiencing! To confirm, are you only seeing this issue when using custom navigation buttons on your slides, or do you also see the issue when using the Player navigation buttons?

If you're referring to custom on-slide navigation, have you tried setting the Initial state of the objects to Hidden, and only triggering the Normal state when the conditions are met?

You are correct--it's only on slides where the navigation is custom on-screen--for the briefest instant, the default "previous/next" buttons flicker, like a glitch in the Matrix.

How do you set the initial state to hidden?  Is that just as simple as creating a state called "hidden" that has the objects not one the slide?

Hi, Micah.

We appreciate your patience while our team investigated this.

I am happy to share some great news! We fixed the issue you reported where:

Slide Navigation buttons still shows (for a second) even if there is a trigger to change the state to hidden when timeline starts
