when I try to change the details on a trigger to adjust variable (not attached to an object)by double clicking on it the code in the triggers panel the trigger wizard doesn't give me the option to press 'ok' and save the changes. it seems to be ok for all other triggers attached to objects.
Thanks for the speedy reply, I have created multiple triggers all similar but different, on different days and having shut down and restarted, but it is still occurring.

it happens to me intermittently as well - not consistent when or why. I just create a new trigger.

Are you on the latest update, are you working from local drive not network drive or usb and have you tried reinstalling?

I am working on the latest version but on a network server, i don't have much choice about that and wasn't aware that it made any difference.
I will try reloading the software and see if it makes any difference.
