No prompt to resume from LMS

Jun 03, 2012

Dear all

I have two courses hosted in the same LMS.

One is Articulate presenter.

The second one is Articulate Storyline.

The Presenter course is behaving as expected (prompt to resume etc).

The Storyline course is never prompting from the LMS (it does it when it has been published for the web).

Scores are being captured for both courses.

The player setting for both courses are identical.

The LMS and webserver are in a different domain. I have already tried the proposed solution with relay.asp or relay.php

Both courses have been published or the LMS (AICC).

Is there anything I may have missed?

All help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Stefaan

Hi,

I launched the debugging file.

I noticed that the parameters for the viewed|lastslideviewed are completely messed up.

I have made it bold in the debug file below.

Has anyone experienced this? And found a solution?

I am using a trial version. Could that be the issue?

Hi Stefaan,

When you publish to AICC, are you clicking on the Reporting & Tracking button & setting the Filename(URL) option to the correct URL?  Make sure that you're pointed at the index_lms.html file.

Also, can you try deleting the content completely from your LMS & then re-adding it to see if that resolves the issue?

Hi Ravi,

I'm not sure which LMS you're using, but it sounds like they may not fully support AICC content. It's difficult to say, though, without a little more information.

Have you tested your course in SCORM Cloud? This would help us determine if the issue is Articulate related or if it's on your LMS's side. Since you're using AICC content please take a look at the article below for testing information:

Articulate Support - Testing AICC content at SCORM Cloud

If it appears in SCORM Cloud as well, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on.

If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team.

The articles here and here may also help clear up common LMS issues.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks!

Christine

Brian,

Were you able to figure out why Prompt to Resume will NOT work on AICC version in Storyline?

I am in a similar boat.

Thanks

RG

Hi RG,

If you're hosting Articulate content on a different server than your AICC LMS, you may experience issues related to tracking and resuming the content.  These issues stem from an aging AICC specification and modern web browser security restraints. Please review this article for more information and solutions.

You may also want to see how the resume data (suspend data) is being stored or not in your LMS.

Articulate does not use the AICC Lesson_Location field for storing bookmarks and resume data.  It uses the Core_Lesson field (permitted under the AICC spec and other tools do this too).

Maybe your LMS does not store values from the Core_lesson field.

Or maybe the course is so large, with many interactions and quiz questions, that you are running into this issue (look at the AICC limits):  http://www.articulate.com/support/kb_article.php?product=st1&id=jrrv9j8vulu0

You usually should not see that but it's possible with the limits of what can be stored in AICC for the suspend_data.

I've seen it happen with a huge Presenter course published to AICC (with many, many Engage interactions and QM quiz questions).  Among other things, resume did not work.
