I've added layers to a slide and imported sound however, it doesn't play when I try to listen from the timeline. However, when I click "preview" from the toolbar I can hear it fine. The problem is it doesn't play from the time line, nor the player preview. Please help.
I'm confused as you mentioned "preview" from the toolbar that it worked, but then the player preview didn't? Are these separate things in your description? You mentioned it's on a layer? What's the trigger to show the layer? If it's something the user needs to click on or based on a variable set on a previous slide it may not play when just previewing from the timeline.
If you're still having difficulty, can you share a copy of the .story file here with us?
Welcome to the community! Are you trying to use the play button in the timeline? Is the audio working in the preview as well as the publish mode? Can you confirm that you are working locally as described here. Also, is this the firs time you have seen this, or is this are occurring issue?
Thanks for the response. I'm using the play button from the timeline. I'm using a "composition book" template. It came with 5 tabs and instead of adding another tab, I inserted layers on the last tab. Interestingly, when I un-check Hide Slide other slide layers in the properties, I can see and hear when I click play from the timeline. Obviously this solution won't work because then I see the other slide layers. I hope you can help as this isn't my first time using layers and audio. It is however the first time I'm using the composition book template, available as a download from your site.
What I'm referring to is on tab 5. The other tabs work perfectly.
Could you share the .story file here? If the audio is on the layer, the layer must be opened to be able to play the audio. Do you want the audio to play when the base layer is open as well?
Did you try to attach the file? When you reply via email, the file will not attach here. Also your email signature will appear here. You can click on edit to remove that and also use the Add Attachment button to share the file.
Thanks for sharing the file. I was able to hear all of the audio on the Tab 5 on each layer using the timeline play button. You may want to follow the steps here if you are still experiencing the issue. Attached is a new file that was imported from you other file in case you want to test this.

The issue is on Tab 5. I don’t want the base layer (tab 5) to show, rather just the layers in the order they’re listed
