No sound on slide layers

Jan 27, 2015

I've added layers to a slide and imported sound however, it doesn't play when I try to listen from the timeline.  However, when I click "preview" from the toolbar I can hear it fine.  The problem is it doesn't play from the time line, nor the player preview.  Please help.

Hi Savern,

I'm confused as you mentioned "preview" from the toolbar that it worked, but then the player preview didn't? Are these separate things in your description? You mentioned it's on a layer? What's the trigger to show the layer? If it's something the user needs to click on or based on a variable set on a previous slide it may not play when just previewing from the timeline.

If you're still having difficulty, can you share a copy of the .story file here with us?

Thanks for the response. I'm using the play button from the timeline. I'm using a "composition book" template. It came with 5 tabs and instead of adding another tab, I inserted layers on the last tab. Interestingly, when I un-check Hide Slide other slide layers in the properties, I can see and hear when I click play from the timeline. Obviously this solution won't work because then I see the other slide layers. I hope you can help as this isn't my first time using layers and audio. It is however the first time I'm using the composition book template, available as a download from your site.

What I'm referring to is on tab 5. The other tabs work perfectly.

The issue is on Tab 5. I don’t want the base layer (tab 5) to show, rather just the layers in the order they’re listed
