Non-linear interaction
Aug 23, 2012
How would you go about having a new layer or slide appear on a non-linear activity?
Example: On a slide, you can click one of 4 radio buttons and something happens on screen. The order isn't important, but I want a new layer or slide to appear after all 4 buttons have been clicked. Basically, the requirement is that you click all 4 before a message will appear.
I'm having a tough time figuring out how to pull that off. Thoughts?

Hey Ian!
There are probably more than a few ways to accomplish that, but this article will give you some ideas on how to get started. Hope it helps!
Thanks Peter. What if I wanted to accomplish the same thing, but I'm using custom buttons, so there is no option for "Visited" like in the video?
Maybe place a shape on the time line, (stored of screen so as to speak) and set the next or custom to proceed when the shape is played? Phil Mayor inspired works a treat and very simple!
Ian,
You need to create the "Visited" state for your custom buttons. Most things can have a state created and attached.
Not sure what you mean when you say that there is no option.
I think that the best way to do this is set up 4 x variables, (True/False, or a count value of 0). Every time they go to one of the layers have the variable increment or change. Then have the layer show when all variables a/b/c/d or whatever are all T/F, or count is 4 when the main slide timeline starts.
Hope this helps.

Should work off either visited state or custom variables, you need to think about in the design what event fires the final layer, because if you use visited or variables when layer 4 is visited or set to true then layer 5 launches on top of 4, or do you have close button for each layer.
