NOOB: Rise vs. Storyline

Hey Everyone,
My Question: Do I have to buy Articulate, plus Parallels, Windows, and MS Office in order to create courses in Articulate? (Or do I just have to buy Parallels and Windows?)
Brand new to Articulate-land. I work in a Mac environment, but am working on a project for a client that pretty much requires me to use Articulate. I was excited to see the versatility of Rise, but it won't be able to do everything I'm looking to do. (For example, I'm converting a day-long training into 30-60 minute e-learning modules. With that, the primary component is the audio which drives the interaction and flow of the learning).
Thanks in advance for your advice.
-Steve

Within the Articulate 360 suite of tools, only Peek is a native Mac app. Rise can be run in a Mac-based browser. Other tools, like Storyline 360 require Windows (or an emulator like Parallels). Here is some info about Articulate 360.
Thanks. I did sign up for a trial of Articulate 360. That's when I realized I couldn't run the full suite on a Mac. Looks like I will have to buy Parallels and Windows to try it out. Too bad the whole product wasn't designed to be cloud-based.
Does anyone know if MS Office (ie PowerPoint) is required to run the Articulate 360 suite as well? Or can I run Storyline 360 without PP?
You can run Storyline without PowerPoint. You do need PPT for Presenter, which is part of Studio 360.
Ugh! Thanks so much, Michael. At some point it becomes just less expensive to buy a cheap PC versus all this additional software. I'm going to try to limp by without having to buy an Office license too.
I know I'm not the "norm" as most people creating courses use PC or have access to one in the office environment.
Thank you. I do appreciate your quick responses to my questions. I'll work on this over the next day or so and see if I can get it all up and running as it should.
Hi Steve,
I'm glad Michael was able to get you up and running with this info. Although you don't need Office for Storyline to work, you'd need it for some elements like Publish to Word, or the Import/Export of Word translation documents - you can see all of this documented in our System requirements here.
Oh, one other thing - you mentioned looking at building a course in Rise vs. Storyline, and I wanted to share this good article about when to use which tools and what the pros are doing.
