I haven't been in Storyline in quite awhile and now when I go into my projects, I'm not able to play the videos from timeline, but they work in preview. Any suggestions?
Hi, Dana -- Sorry to hear you are running into issues with previewing from the timeline. Can you please confirm that you you are working locally? If you happen to be working from a network drive, you could run into some erratic or unusual behavior.
And please feel free to share your file as well if you would like us to run some testing on our end.
Christie, yes I'm working locally, not on a network drive. Michael, the video is stored on my hard drive but was inserted from file. Each time a try to sync items on my timeline and preview them, they show up at different times or not at all. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but am pretty new to Storyline, so I'm not sure how to troubleshoot.
Hi, Dana -- Thanks so much for your patience while I tested your file. I was able to play the video on the timeline without incident, so there are a few things you may want to try to see if you find improvement.
First, it may be helpful to import the file into a new file, and you may find that this simple repair will do the trick. Please also be sure that you are using the most recent update available here.

Do you have the videos stored within your exported project files?
Otherwise when you run your project it will be trying to locate the files from where ever you uploaded them from. Which obviously it can't do.
