I have a course I am working on that I would like to utilize the menu but I want to make sure that the user doesn't just use the menu to jump to the last slide without viewing all the content ... is there any way to make sure that a user can't jump ahead using the menu to a slide beyond what they have viewed?
Yes, if you select Player from the Home tab you can access the Menu options. From there open the Additional Options by clicking the cog icon at the bottom of the screen and select Restricted Navigation.
This will allow the user to move around among the screens they've already viewed, but can't jump ahead.
Helen do you know if there is any way to prompt the user with a message if they try and select a link in the menu for a screen that they haven't visited? It just seems kind of weird that when a user selects a link that they haven't visited it just does nothing ... it could be misinterpreted as just not working
Not that I'm aware of. It would require a trigger to display that kind of message and triggers only work on slides or custom buttons on the Player, not on the Menu.
Although there may possibly be a fabulous javascript was of doing this (there usually is such a solution to most seemingly impossible things). So if any of the javascript genii out there know of a way now is the time to speak.
Yes is should. As the Search feature is part of the Menu if there is no menu showing on a particular slide you won't be able to search when on that slide.
This restricted message functionality (and the ability to edit it) in is Presenter. I'd submit a feature request for Articulate's consideration to add it to Storyline.

Oops, sorry. No Restricted navigation DOESN'T stop the Search feature allowing you to jump ahead.
I was posting in two thrreads that were similar and got them swapped in my head

Hi Helen,
Would your solution also prevent users from jumping ahead when they click on the search option which resides in the menu?
Cheers
