Note from a new user

Apr 18, 2014

In the hours of research I did before my purchase I was told Storyline is the Cadillac of software of its kind. I'm pretty lost in all it can do, but am also impressed. I've asked and will continue to ask some pretty mundane questions. The forums are so full of information from experienced users, I literally get lost in there too.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who posts questions that we can all learn from. The tutorials are beneficial and valuable for the basic functionality, but using the software uncovers the unique actions that stump even the most experienced in course development.

Thanks to all the staff and all the e-Learning Heroes who take the time to answer questions and especially those who include examples.  You get extra credit. When I bought the license I had as my goal to become a Storyline expert and evangelist.  I still question my ability to catch on and gain expertise, but your attentiveness and effort at least encourage me to keep trying.

Hi Jane!

Welcome to the community. I'm sure you'll be a whiz at Storyline before you know it.

Have you had any training yet? If not, that would certainly make you feel less overwhelmed. It looks like you're independent like I am, so if you're looking for some terrific, extremely affordable online courses I can vouch for those at Lynda.com. They could really help you a lot.

And don't forget to consider jumping into David Anderson's weekly challenges. You can make your contributions as simple or complex as you like, it's great practice, it gives you a great little design problem to work on, you'll get feedback and support from others, and you end up with some nice little samples of your work. It'll give you a feeling of accomplishment at any level of Storyline mastery. (And they're fun!)

Looking forward to seeing you around!

Jackie

Thank you for your encouragement. Someone bought me a Udemy class as a gift. I will look into the Lynda.com. I have only viewed and read the David Anderson challenges. Oh man! I love them but am so far from pizzazz, it's only a dream at this point.  I am literally spending most of my waking hours in some part of Storyline. I know it takes practice and won't come to me overnight. I just have to keep trying. Although like Vince Lombardi said "Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect." That definitely applies to self-taught individuals.

I wanted everyone who spend time advising and answering questions that they are appreciated, even if they don't realize it.

Looking forward to getting to know more e-learning heroes and aspects of the software.
