Notes font changes randomly and can't be formatted properly

I am currently working on a project where the slides and notes are imported in to Storyline 360, but the Notes formatting in slide view is VERY strange. I can't even manually change the font appearance, and the font displayed in the notes panel in slide view doesn't match what is set in the properties bar.

I've tried the "copy-paste from notepad" to reset all formatting, and even then it inserts extra carriage returns, formats the font randomly (even within the same line). I've tried retyping the notes as well, and as I type the words change size depending on whether I have a space before/after a word, etc.

Attached is an image of the actual notes panel and what it looks like while I'm editing. Note that all of the font in the notes panel is set to 12 pt. Arial font. The same result is seen with Franklin Gothic book. The same result is seen when pasting directly from unformatted notepad, except when pasting from notepad an extra 3 carriage returns are placed between the notes title and the paragraph, even though there aren't any extra carriage returns in Notepad.

I'm facing a deadline now and the ability to import/format the notes is causing a major holdup in the development process. Any new ideas are welcome.
