Notes Tab Text Cut Off in Mobile View

Jun 19, 2017

Hi everyone,

I have a transcript for the audio on the Notes tab. When I preview it in mobile player view, the text is cut off and squeezed, as in the attached screen shot. Is there a setting that I've missed that will correct this issue?

Thanks,

Gina

Hey Carly,

Sorry to hear that you're running into a similar issue with your Notes on mobile devices.

I took a look at the sample .story filed in our report and I'm no longer seeing the issue on that file when publishing with the latest update and viewing on my iPad with the latest iOS.

Would you be able to share a sample .story file that you're experiencing difficulty with so we can take a look and bring this back up with the team?

I also wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.

So sorry you ran into this problem, Daniel! We've seen some inconsistencies with this bug, depending on which iOS version is used and the type of mobile device used for testing.

Can you tell me more about your testing environment?

Leslie McKerchie

Hey Daniel,

As I mentioned above, I was not able to see the issue last time I took a look at a sample file.

I took a look today, publishing with SL360 Update 20 and viewing in Safari on iOS 12.0.1 and the notes are not cut off.

If you could share a sample .story file, we'd be happy to take another look.

If you cannot share it here in the forums, please share here privately.

Hi everyone,

Good news! We fixed the issue you reported where:

The left edge of Notes text cut off on iOS.

Install the latest Storyline 360 update to take advantage of all the recent features and fixes. Here's how.

If the problem happens again, please record a Peek 360 screencast for me, and I'll be happy to help!

I have updated Storyline 360. My version is V3.30.19518.0. The text is cut off at the left; and not all text displays. In my attached image, you'll see a small paragraph of content. but there is more content that is not displaying. It seems to limit the amount of characters you can have in your Notes. This only happens when viewing on Mobile player.

Hi Sherri,

Thanks for reaching out and letting me know that you are on the latest version of Storyline 360. I can see the left side of your content cutting off in your attached image and I would like to take a look at both of the issues you are seeing.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Here is a small sample from my file. I did discover that IF you use a Menu tab along with the Notes tab, then the Notes tab works properly; however, not all of our clients want to use a Menu tab (as they use custom menus).  In this file, we are only using the Notes tab (we have renamed it as Transcript). Thanks!

Hey Sheri,

Thank you for sharing your file!

I tested your file on a mobile device and I was able to see that the text was being cut off when I started in a Landscape Orientation. If I started in the Portrait orientation, the text on the Notes section was not cut off. I will be passing these notes along to our team and add this discussion to our report! As soon as we have additional news to share, you’ll be notified right away.

Thanks for letting us know that you’re hitting this snag, and please let us know if you have any additional questions!

Hi Mangesh!

So sorry you're facing this problem. Could I grab the model and make of your Android device? I'd love to share this detail in our report as we continue to investigate this bug!

Using the modern player is the only workaround we know of at this point, but we'll keep you posted on any new developments!

Hi, everyone.

We appreciate your patience while our team investigated this.

I am happy to share some great news! We fixed the issue reported where:
HTML5: Notes text is cutoff on the responsive player when viewing the content in landscape mode.

Be sure to install the latest Storyline 360 update (Build 3.49.24347.0) to take advantage of all the recent features and fixes.

If the problem happens again, please let us know, or you can always work directly with our support engineers here.
