"Notes" view is grey?

Dec 12, 2018

I'm using Storyline 360 version 3. I'm working with projects that are built on PPT decks that were imported into Storyline. Both had notes on the slides in PPT.

On both projects, when I view the NOTES screen while building a slide, I can see that the notes were imported as well, but they are displaying as black font on a dark grey background? It IS editable, but why does it look like this? What can I do to adjust this so it's legible?

Courses built from scratch (no PPT import) don't demonstrate this same issue. Notes look normal on those.

Hi there, Kat!

Thanks for bringing this up. We've seen the same problem since Update 18. Like you said, it looks like the Notes text is defaulting to black instead of white.  Obviously black on black is impossible to see, so we're looking into how we can fix this.

In the meantime, you can either manually change the text color by highlighting the notes text and selecting "white", or you can switch to the Light theme

Really sorry for the hangup.  I'll keep you updated here!

Hi Paul,

Thank you for letting us know! We are looking into this issue further, so I will be sure to add your comments to our report.

In the meantime, the workarounds Alyssa provided should help resolve the issue when importing PPT notes:

  • Manually change notes text to white
  • Change the player to the light theme

You are in the right place, and we'll be sure to provide an update to this thread!
