null value in numeric entry field?

Hello, I am designing a quiz question where the correct answer will be the sum of a number of different numeric entry fields. The student should enter the configuration parameters of a certain software screen. In order to know if the entries are correct, I sum the entries in a hidden numeric entry field and on Submit, Articulate compares that number against the criteria in the test question. It seems to be working OK, however some of the correct numeric entries in the question are zero, which is also the default setting for the variables. Is it possible to somehow set a null value as default?

You wouldn't want you numeric entries to be null, as this would cause you to receive a NaN (Not a Number) error.
You could however set your default value to -1. Then you would know that if the value is less than 0, you are looking at an empty value. I assume that is what you want to accomplish?
