object fades out immediately when slide starts?

May 28, 2014

This is just plain odd. I set up an object on a slide with fade in and fade out animations. The object is set up in the timeline to play for the whole slide, and there are user triggers that will tell it when to appear/disappear. However, for some reason Storyline assumes that since I gave the object a fade out animation, i want it to fade out immediately when the slide starts. So, I open the slide, it fades in, and it fades out. (it will also fade in and out later on, when it's triggered, but I don't want the object to do it first thing). Has anyone else run into this problem? Is it an HTML5 issue? I should mention that it doesn't happen when I preview the interactive (in Flash)-only when I drag it into tempshare and play it from there.

Thanks!

sure-here it is. There are 5 pictures layered on top of each other-the idea is to simulate a photoshop-like adjustment of the brightness of the picture with the slider. The top 2 pics start the slide hidden, but the next 2 are not, and they immediately fade out if you wait a second.

Hi Chana,

I'd remove the fade out animations - looking at it without that, the slider looks to work as you'd like by changing the colors saturation. It's not a smooth as it would be in photoshop or similar, but the slider doesn't move as smooth either - so the distance and speed at which they move without the animation still seems to match.
