Object flickers with Hover Over state

May 05, 2020

I know this topic has been discussed before and I looked up the previous posts about this but they were not the same as my issue. I have a slide with a very simple trigger set up that when the user comes to the slide there is a text box with some information to be read before continuing with the slide. The text box  becomes hidden upon mouse over so the user can continue watching a video on the slide.

It used to work correctly but just recently it started to flicker up on mouse hover instead of hiding.

Has something changed in a new version that might be the cause of this?

It is the same on all browsers.

There could be so many reasons.

For example, if the hover shape is smaller than the normal, that can also cause the flicker. It hovers, but then is not above the new shape, so returns to normal, then is above, so goes to hover, etc.

If that's not the problem, attach your .story file here, and somebody can take a look at it.

If you want the text to stay hidden. don't restore it when the mouse hovers out.

If I were you, I would not consider this a bug, I would take credit for a brilliant new effect. Give the text an exit animation (in the video, I used fade), and you will have a pulsing effect to draw the learner's attention to the object under the mouse!

Seriously, when the textbox goes to hidden state, the mouse is no longer hovering on it, so it restores to normal. Then the mouse is hovering, so it changes to hidden, and etc.  Don't restore on hover out, and you'll be fine.

Well I don't think I can take credit for blinking HTML text on a web page :) or for finding a bug. I know previous posts mention the shape size but I tried adjusting the text box and nothing happens.

Unchecking Don't restore on hover out stops the flickering thanks.

What version of Storyline are you using? I am on v. 3.39.21985.0
