Object Intersection transition

Dec 08, 2017

Hi all,

I currently have slide (attached) where one object changes state (so that it disappears) when another object intersects with it. It currently just disappears suddenly as the state changes which is quite unattractive and I was wondering if there is a way of making this more subtle e.g. fading the object out upon intersection.

Any ideas/suggestions greatly welcomed.

Have a great day guys :)

Hi Hazel,

I noticed that the green oval wasn't disappearing at all, since the motion path makes it intersect the red oval at its home position.  I moved the motion path so it would land on the center of the scene like the red oval does and the intersect trigger performed like it should.  Instead of using the "disabled" state, I changed it to use the "hidden" state which triggered the fade animation you had set.  Unless you're planning on using the disabled state for something else, you could remove it entirely and it wouldn't affect the performance if this slide as it stands now.

As a side note, you could add a "pause timeline" trigger to run when the timeline starts.  This would allow the user an indefinite amount of time to click before the fade animation for the green oval happens (currently it will happen when the timeline reaches 15 seconds), but it will still fade when the red oval intersects it.

Hi James, thanks so much for that, you're a legend!

Unfortunately, as a newbie, there was complete ignorance on my part regarding the function of the built-in 'hidden' state - I didn't realise that this would trigger the exit animation so grateful to learn something new. Also, great tip regarding the use of pausing the timeline to troubleshoot.

Thanks again!
